As reported by BleepingComputer (opens in new tab), a new botnet called Cloud9 has been discovered by security researchers at Zimperium. The botnet uses malicious extensions to log keystrokes, steal passwords, inject ads and infect vulnerable computers with malware. Browsers with this malicious extension installed can even be used to launch DDoS attacks designed to take over websites by overwhelming them with traffic. The Cloud9 browser extension works just like a remote access trojan (RAT) and hackers can use it to remotely execute commands in a victim’s browser once it has been added to either Chrome or Edge....

The other big pitfall that Overwatch 2 faces is the introduction of some new mechanics that could ultimately stratify players. The first-time user experience prevents new players from feeling overwhelmed, but it also restricts certain heroes and modes at the start. Similarly, the new battle pass and SMS protection could place undue burdens on more casual players, which seems at odds with the game’s accessible free-to-play design. Despite these shortcomings, the core Overwatch 2 experience feels good....
Sony hasn’t officially announced such a launcher, nor is the existence of these references proof it will ever appear. But as VGC notes, this could be seen as Sony showing interest in the idea, at the very least. Files referencing “PSNAccountLinked” and “PSNLinkingEntitlements” were also discovered.
